So...Guernica. Picasso painted his masterpiece out of the angst and grief he felt of the Guernica slaughter in Basque Country by two fascists: Hitler and Franco. Gee, what artist is going to paint this current fascist regime of the downfall of American democracy??!!

(I've seen this painting at the Prada, when I lived in Madrid, which is located in a large room all by itself. For me, it was like stepping into the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican or into the arena of The Army of Terracotta Warriors in Xian. You KNOW you are in the presence of GENIUS. )

In my younger years I had an abundance of friends, 

and many acquaintances.  I'd spend a good portion 

of my daily time being around them -- and enjoyed it.

However, as I age, the less I want to be around people.

Over the past five years or more,

I find people's behaviors intolerable and abhorrent.

I don't want to be around that toxic energy.

...and maybe they feel the same way about me.

So be it. 

I have a few long-time friendships that I cherish,

and that suffices my social need. 

In this new phase of my life, I am learning

the art and benefits of being alone.

I'm embracing my solitude, and loving it.
