SEX

Why are so many people fearful or embarrassed or offended when it comes to sex? America is such a child compared to our neighboring Western countries who have a healthy attitude about sex. We somehow have seemed to hold on to those absurd Victorian values. This is the new millennium, Kids!

Case in point. I am President of our Homeowner’s Association, and there is such a lackadaisical, flippant attitude about joining the Board. But when something goes wrong, you can bet these folk are the first to yell! So I and the Board decided to write a memo encouraging people to get more involved in their home, their investment. The memo went out in the mail to each owner and I also posted it in the lobby. To catch people’s attention, I wrote SEX in red letters atop the memo and scribbled: Now that I have your attention please read further. The next day, I noticed someone scratched out the word ‘sex.’ Yes! Evidently, the person who did this is not getting any…

Guess Sister Mary Agnes Clair did not permanently injure your knuckels (get your hands out from under the desk). Oh wait, not sure if you liked her or not. Chris

For a long time I had mixed emotions about SMAC [remember when she would write that on the blackboard??!!]. Eventually though, I realized that she was one of my early role models. In my adult years I reconnected with her and even mentioned her in my Elizabeth Taylor article! Thanks, Chris xo

Well, I'm not getting any, but I promise you it wasn't me. :)

Perhaps there's another interpretation for someone marking out the word "sex" other than Victorian prudery. See, to me physical intimacy is a very beautiful, but very private gift from God and something that is cheapened by crude or casual references. I Love Lucy is funny fifty years after production without relying on sexual "humor"; today there's hardly a show on tv that doesn't attempt to get most of its laughs from ridiculing sex. It's almost as disheartening to me as someone using the name of Jesus as an expletive. Worse than that, I think, is someone wearing (and hiding behind) the name of "Christian" as an excuse to condemn the very people that must touch God's heart most deeply... those that aren't even sure if he exists or not.

May he bless you richly today and always.
