CARING ABOUT KAREN
It's been 30 years today that Karen Carpenter died.
I was a fan of hers and The Carpenters from Day One, even when it wasn't "in" to like them. At that time Rock and Roll was sweeping the country, not "milk toast" sounds like The Carpenters. To this day I listen to their music and it always brings a smile to my face. The description "Angel" may be overused, but when it comes to Karen's voice, that's what she sounded like:
